North Shore Winds
The North Shore Winds is based in Auckland and conducted by Leah Munroe.
The ensemble is dedicated to supplementing the musical skills of adult musicians, offering a platform for both seasoned and returning players to continue their musical journey in a fun, challenging, and rewarding environment. The group provides a space for wind band musicians to connect, collaborate, and perform, with members who are passionate about advancing the arts and elevating wind band music within the community.
The music includes a dynamic range of repertoire that includes classical and contemporary compositions, as well as lesser-known works to highlight the versatility of the band. The band has a number of exciting performance opportunities including but not limited to our annual participation in the New Zealand Concert Bands Association National Festival.
Information for prospective members
The band is committed to maintaining a high level of musicianship, and therefore as a guide we ask for players to perform at a Grade 8 level or have equivalent experience to comfortably play our music. However, if unsure, please reach out for a conversation, and we can explore together whether your skills and experience would be a good fit for the band.
